Update November 2021: Thank you to all who supported Vicky and helped her raised £1,000 for the British Porphyria Association!

Congratulations to Vicky McGuire, who walked the virtual London Marathon at the weekend in a fantastic time of 6h 37m 05s. Vicky has raised almost double her initial target for the British Porphyria Association, an amazing achievement to go alongside her marathon walk. Vicky is the scientific lead for the Scottish Cutaneous Porphyria Service, which analyses patient samples to diagnose cutaneous porphyrias, a set of diseases that can cause light sensitivity. Vicky is just £70 from double her original target, help her reach it by donating here

The Scottish Cutaneous Porphyria Service team members took part in the British Porphyria Associations Active 21 Challenge and smashed their fundraising target. For a period of 21 days, members of the team completed 21 flights of stairs at Ninewells Hospital along with daily individual personal challenges themed around "21", e.g. 21 squats, 21 Push-ups, 210 hula's (because 21 is to easy!!). Well done to all that took part!

Not just a scientist but a comedian too! The Photobiology Unit's Dr Paul O'Mahoney delivered a stand up performance (pun intended) at the Festival of the Future Comedy Club in Dundee. Paul was drawing on his experience of being a shy, awkward physicist thrust into a clinical environment - part autobiographal, part time travel.
