Waiting List Validation and Management

Waiting list validation is a process that helps the NHS to confirm the needs of patients. NHS Tayside is carrying out validation of our waiting lists to ensure our patients continue to receive the most appropriate care in the correct place. Patient Hub will enable NHS Tayside to improve patient contact with regards to your status on the waiting list and also allow you to let us know about any changes in your circumstances. This will have a number of benefits:
  • Reduce waiting lists so that patients who no longer require an appointment are removed from the waiting list, allowing those that do need to be seen to move along their pathway
  • Reduce the number of people who do not attend (DNA) an appointment as they no longer require treatment
  • Free-up administration time
  • Monitor and update results in real time
  • Provide accurate and real time data around waiting list management

Patients waiting for an appointment will automatically receive a text and / or email asking them to confirm whether they still require the appointment. Patients will only be contacted when they have been waiting for a specified number of weeks.

Please do not ignore the text message or email. Also, keep an eye on your spam folders as well, to make sure it's not missed.

Once logged in you will be able to see any messages awaiting a response by clicking on the "Referrals" tile. For each waiting list validation message, you will be asked to select an option that best describes your situation; once you have selected the option, a confirmation message will be generated. The response options and confirmation messages are outlined below:
